Chinese New Year = Family Gathering

The happiness of Chinese New Year is not the long holiday that I could take enough break from busy life, but the family gathering that everyone of the family sharing the joy and time together.

The moment I stepped into my home, I felt warm. The atmosphere is there, I felt the Chinese New Year! My mom and my sister-in-law has decorated the house very nicely.

This Chinese New Year marks the most busy year for me and my family, because it’s the year when most relatives come back together. From Brunei, from Singapore, from Hong Kong.

Right after 12am, Happy Chinese New Year!

Following the tradition, we prayed, wishing for happiness, wellness, prosperity, harmonious for the whole family. Some neighbours would just make the fireworks, and we all enjoy seeing it right above our heads. What we have is just normal fire crackers, which is also a tradition to burn that, based on the story of “chasing away a monster called ‘nian’”, by producing sound of explosion.

Most enjoyable moment throughout the year, is this, Chinese New Year. One week holiday, same as my school recess week. But it has so much different meanings for me.
